In listening to the jockeying going on in Congress it is clear that the game being played has little to do with health care. The fact that the not so in tune representative from Ohio could say that he didn't think that anyone is really having a problem with their health insurance lets us know that the obstructionists to anything that will truly benefit the average person are 1. not the average people and 2. not in touch with the average person.
More to the point, the only thing that seems to be in the news has little to do with the substance of the bills and more to do with the jockeying for votes. It's about the loss of the super-majority, the fear of the filibuster. Partisan politics devoid of content or morality.
I actually wonder if the exodus from Congress that seems to be happening has to do with these reps realizing that the system just doesn't work. When you can attach riders to bills that are antithetical to the spirit and morality of a bill, creating moral dilemmas and vulnerable candidates, who really wants to represent the people?
Either retire, enjoy your stipend and full health coverage and/or go work for a lobbyist. Your choice...
